Installation of scarecrows
Location: Upper Ironside Farm
OS Map Reference: NJ894526
Date: 2009
Description: An installation of, about ten, simple tattie bogles (scarecrows) constructed of old overalls, buckets etcetera on wooden frames, these were arranged symmetrically on either side of a rectangular pasture to protect barley crops in adjacent fields.
Related Information: The impact of this piece is difficult to convey in photographs relying as it did on the regular repetition of similar basic elements over a fairly large area. While it was quite significant in landscape terms in any photograph that shows the whole work the individual scarecrows appear rather small.
Era: 2000s
